Overview

Tanpura ("the App") is an Indian classical music practice application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Data stored on your device only

• Practice settings: pitch, tempo, volume, string preset preferences
• Practice statistics: session dates, durations, streak counts
• Audio recordings: practice recordings you create (stored locally)

This data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers.

Microphone access

The App requests microphone permission for two features:

• Sur Meter: Real-time pitch detection to show which musical note (swar) you are singing
• Recording: Recording your practice sessions for personal playback and analysis

Audio from the microphone is processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit, store, or have access to any audio captured by the microphone.

Song Analysis (optional)

If you use the Song Analysis feature to upload a song for swar transcription, the audio file is sent to our processing server for vocal separation and pitch detection. The uploaded audio is deleted after processing is complete.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• No personal information (name, email, phone number)
• No location data
• No analytics or tracking
• No advertising identifiers
• No third-party analytics SDKs

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
